The Jockey Club Children’s Dental Health Project will cover all kindergartens in Hong Kong starting from the 2020/21 school year, serving more than 180,000 children.
We provide school-based services to check and control tooth decay in school children to prevent their tooth decay from getting worse.
The oral examination we provide is non-invasive, and the whole process will not cause any wounds. After the dentist completes the examination for each school child, he will replace it with brand-new appliances to minimize the chance of cross-infection.
The Jockey Club Children's Dental Health Project is generously supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. School dental checkups and silver ammonium fluoride treatments are provided free of charge for school children.
It usually only takes tens of seconds for each child to check. In schoolchildren with severe cavities, silver ammonium fluoride treatment may take a minute or more.
We will provide the school with documents such as program details, parental consent forms, inspection record sheets, etc. All relevant documents will be emailed to the school four to eight weeks prior to the inspection. After the documents are sent, we will contact the school to explain the content of each document in detail.
Parents’ seminars are usually arranged on the day of the inspection. It is recommended to arrange them during the pick-up and drop-off time to facilitate parents’ participation. The specific arrangement depends on the school venue and there is no limit to the number of participants.
The content of the parent talk mainly includes the introduction of the outreach service, a brief introduction to common oral diseases of preschool children, and personal oral care of school children. There will also be a question-and-answer session at the end of the lecture.
